Player and Parent Responsibilities
Club Philosophy
Our purpose is to achieve success in soccer while also promoting good sportsmanship, teamwork, self-confidence, and fun. The conduct of coaches, family members and spectators is critical to this process. Considering the thousands of people involved with MVU games, the instances of poor conduct each year are remarkably few. These few instances, however, will not be tolerated.
Parents
Parental support and involvement in the Club are essential. If your son/daughter is selected and chooses to commit to MVU, your commitment is also necessary. Parents are required to ensure attendance at all Club and team functions (practices, meetings, games, etc.). There will be conflicts that cannot be avoided; we hope that with appropriate communication and planning we can minimize such conflicts. It is the Club’s responsibility to present a periodic schedule to allow time for your planning. The Director of Coaching or Team Coach will make final decisions on scheduling and adjustments after careful consideration of your needs and those of the Club or team.

Managers

Once teams are selected, then a manager will be recruited from the parents of the players on each team. The team manager is an essential part of the MVU infrastructure. All of the team administration is handled by the team manager including: players’ registration, additional fee collection, uniform coordination and ordering, tournament applications/registration. The team manager must also delegate specific duties to other parents on the team.

Treasurers

Every team must have a treasurer. All teams are to open bank accounts as defined by the Executive Director. This bank account must be opend using the club’s tax id. The treasurer’s responsibility includes collecting monies for tournament fees, coach’s additional expenses, referee fees and any additional fees the team may have. It is the treasurer’s responsibility to provide the team and MVU with a detailed monthly budget on the last day of each month.
