Individual Player Development
We understand players develop at different speeds. The tryouts are a “snap shot” of a player’s development at any given time. We strongly encourage all players to work at their game away from the soccer fields. We have seen many players who have been selected to the “B” team transferred to the “A” team through hard work and dedication.
Team Development
Developing team spirit has to be worked at. Creating a positive environment in the sense of fighting negative influences, praising rather than blaming and encouraging individuals to take a pride in their performance. Conduct and achievements are all constituents of the aim of ’spirit’ and togetherness. Players are surrounded by ’negative influences’ which can undermine the quest for harmony and any criticism of players publicly is likely to provoke an adverse response. Team building is an essential part of the coach’s role. Team building includes a whole range of team activities that are often used to enhance team spirit – what sport psychologists often call “team cohesion”. Team cohesion comprises all the components that make the group’s members want to stick and work together in pursuit of a goal. Eventually, team cohesion is an important factor affecting team performance.
