Fremont Youth Soccer League will be offering several free coaching clinics to our registered coaches throughout the season. We also offer our coaches a detailed coaching curriculum.

 

For both first time and returning coaches, please remember the ultimate reason you are here: to teach children the sport of soccer and allow them to play the game. The Board of Directors has adopted a mission statement, which reflects this goal. Additionally, the National Youth Sports Association has compiled a Coaches Code of Ethics to assist all youth sports coaches in maintaining this proper perspective, and they read as follows:

 

I will place the emotional and physical well being of my players ahead of my personal desire to win.

 

I will remember to treat each player as an individual, remembering the large spread of emotional and physical development for the same age group.

 

I will do my very best to provide a safe play situation for my players.

 

I promise to review and practice the necessary first aid principles needed to treat injuries of my players.

 

I will do my best to organize practices that are fun and challenging for all my players.

 

I will lead by example, in demonstrating fair play and sportsmanship to all my players.

 

I will ensure that I am knowledgeable in the rules of each sport that I coach, and that I will teach these rules to my players.

 

I will use those coaching techniques appropriate for each of the skills that I teach.

 

I will remember that I am a youth coach, and that the game is for children and not adults.

 

It is up to each of you to ensure that your team is led according to these standards. Let us continue to build our children’s’ character through the application of proper coaching ethics. The result will be better people, better players and better teams, and the continuing enhancement of the reputation of your league, Fremont Youth Soccer Leagues.
